So I updated my WordPress today… and in the process I lost all my posts since October!  ARGH!!!

Fortunately, I linked everything to Facebook, so I have a backup.  But now I have to spend the time recreating them.  So if you are an avid reader, you’ll think you are experiencing a serious case of Deja Vu.  Here we go again…

My healing is progressing nicely. It only hurts when I twist that way… solution… don’t twist that way! My buddy Josh and I tramped through the woods yesterday and stumbled over logs and bushwhacked our way to finding 15 caches, and I did just fine. Was pretty tuckered and sore at the end of the day. But no ill effects this morning. So, I’m thinking the worst of my battle is over. Jen still says I walk funny, but I think that may be normal!

Next update should be a clean bill of health from the Orthopedic surgeon.

We have made it to the top 10 contestants on American Idol, and every year I try to make my picks. Last year I selected the winner at this point in the competition. So I’m hoping I can have a repeat performance this year.

I do think that this year has probably the strongest overall top ten ever. All of these contestants could have a successful run at a recording career. But in my mind, there are three standouts.

Adam Lambert Adam Lambert is one of my top two favorites. He has a very strong artistic bent and understands the importance of entertainment as well as super strong singing skills. I like him as an overall performer and feel like he has the chops to be a good rocker, although I think he will probably take more of an artistic music theater track, much like Tony Vincent, another of my favorite artists.
Danny Gokey has been a front runner for me since the first time I saw him on the show. I really love his vocal ability and think he also has a strong command of the stage. I am also excited about his Christian music ties as a music leader in his church. Unfortunately, Danny is not a consistent performer each week, and doesn’t always WOW me. But I think he will make it to the final two for sure. Danny Gokey
Allison Iraheta Allison Iraheta is the strongest female competitor. She has amazing vocal skills for someone so young. I prefer the rock music genre and feel like Allison has the gritty edginess of season 7’s Amanda Overmeyer without the “F you” attitude. I think Allison will easily round out the top three, and has the skills to win it all.

Zach Maurer

Zach turned 15 today.

I’ve got to tell you, I am very impressed with the young man he is turning into. He is a sensative soul, has a creative mind, and a big heart. He loves video games, enjoys reading, and does well in school. He is involved with the church youth group and enjoys Intro to Robotics and Stage Movement in school.

How often can a parent say they like hanging out with their teenage son? Well I can… and I do!
